Breeding Philosophy

We aim to produce dogs with the temperament to be resilient, confident, social family pets. This is my FIRST priority, above all other qualities, including appearance or breed. I do all that I can to choose breeding dogs that are healthy and will pass on good health to their pups. All of my dogs live with me or in nearby guardian homes where they live regular pet lives. In order to be bred they must demonstrate success as a family dog. This includes ability to ride in the car, go on outings, be friendly to, or at least very tolerant of, all visitors, and get along well with other dogs and kids.

My primary breeding goal is the breed in development known as the Bearded Retriever. I, along with other breeders, are working toward a non shedding dog that also has the typical happy go lucky, loving personality of a Labrador or Golden retriever.

I breed mixes because, although many purebreds are wonderful and healthy, I am concerned about the level of inbreeding in many breeds, as well as the toxic culture that can be created when “purity” and appearance become more important than dog welfare. I choose not to participate in most of the traditional pure bred community for these reasons.
